# Loomwrighter > Weave the world. Write the story. A story bible for novelists: characters in tiers with rules and stats, places, timelines, a consistency checker, and an AI co-author that never writes the book for you. Free during the introductory period; subscription pricing arrives in January. ## What it does - **Build a world in minutes.** Paste a story summary, answer a short interview about the world, and get a cast in three tiers (main, key and background), the places they live, and a dated timeline you can write from. Or answer the built-in questionnaire and build it by hand. - **Keep it consistent.** Give a character rules: never lies to her sister, cannot swim, does not know about the affair until chapter nine. Paste a scene and Loomwrighter flags the contradictions, plus the structural ones: dead characters in later chapters, dates that do not line up, events in the wrong era. - **Write with a co-author.** Connect Claude through the Model Context Protocol and it can read your bible, add to it, and check your prose while you write. A thesaurus that knows your character's voice, a writer's-block page with sparks drawn from your own secrets and fears, and a sprint timer for the days the page will not move. - **Bring your own AI, or none.** Use the free shared AI, or add your own Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini or Grok key. Every feature also works with no AI at all: the questionnaire, name and stat generators, image upload, constraint templates and export. ## Key facts - URL: https://loomwrighter.com - Audience: novelists, screenwriters, game writers, anyone building a fictional world. - AI: a free shared model, or bring your own Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini or Grok key. Loomwrighter is a story bible for novelists and screenwriters. It keeps characters, places, timelines and rules in one place, and uses AI to generate the tedious parts (names, backstories, places, events) and to check drafts for contradictions. ### Does Loomwrighter write my book for me? No. It is a writing assistant and a reference, not a ghostwriter. The generators give you scaffolding to react to; the prose, the voice and the decisions that matter stay with you. ### Is Loomwrighter free? Yes, for now. It is free as an introductory product. Subscription pricing will be introduced in January, with notice to subscribers. Your projects stay yours whatever happens to pricing. ### Which AI models can I use? A free shared AI is included. You can also add your own key for Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini or xAI Grok, and every feature has a manual path that needs no AI at all. ### Where does my writing go when I use the shared AI? Text from your project is sent to DeepSeek, a third party, only after you acknowledge that once in Settings. With your own key it goes to your chosen provider instead. Loomwrighter itself never trains models on your writing and never sells it. ### Can I use Loomwrighter with Claude? Yes. Loomwrighter runs a Model Context Protocol server. Connect Claude Code or Claude Desktop with a personal access token from Settings and Claude can read your bible, create characters and places, add timeline events, apply constraints and check scenes. ### Can I export my data? Yes. Export the whole project as JSON at any time, or the story bible as Markdown. ## Pages - [Home](https://loomwrighter.com/) - [What this is](https://loomwrighter.com/about) - [Privacy](https://loomwrighter.com/privacy) - [Terms](https://loomwrighter.com/terms)
